Marvel Studios President Wants Black Panther Director To Helm Sequel
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, says he "absolutely" wants Black Panther director Ryan Coogler to return for a sequel.
Speaking with Variety to promote Black Panther among other discussions, Feige feels the comic has plenty more stories to explore on the silver screen. "We always say we work on one movie at a time," he says. "If you have any good ideas, put it in the movie you're making. If you don't, you might not be able to make another one. That said, Panther has been around for more than half a century in the comic books and there are many, many stories to tell."
A Black Panther sequel is not on the official slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe films for now. The current schedule is Avengers: Infinity Wars (May 4), Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6), Captain Marvel (March 8, 2019); and Avengers 4, (May 3, 2019).
Black Panther launches in theaters today and stars Chadwick Bosman as the title character, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'O, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis. The film currently has a Metacritic score of 88.
