Weekend Warrior - Shadow Of The Lunar New Year
This year started off strong with a number of big releases that are still keeping us busy. This weekend we hope to reach level 9000 in Dragon Ball FighterZ, continue slaying Colossi, and have some good fortune during Overwatch's Lunar New Year event. Is your weekend crammed with these games as well? Let us know what you're up to in the comments below!
Jon Bowman (@MrGameAndWrite) – I’ve got an unnamed challenger ready to be destroyed in Dragon Ball FighterZ (you know who you are). After that, I’ll bounce back and forth between beating Celeste and sinking into Shadow of the Colossus.
Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyIV) – I'm going to be running around in Rust in the buff, beating strangers to death with a rock! Also, diving back into Metro Redux and Assassin's Creed Origins.
Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – Hmmm, what to play this weekend… I guess I should keep going with Monster Hunter: World to get ready for our final episode of GI Game Club. Other than that, there’s a bunch of little stuff I want to try on Steam like Descenders (biking), Aegis Defender (tower defensing), and Octogeddon (octopussing). I’ll most likely finish the second chunk of Dragon Ball FighterZ’s story mode as well. Have a good weekend!
Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – Despite having recently gotten over a sickness, I feel another one creeping up on me and frankly? I don't care for it. This may be a controversial statement, but I much prefer to feel healthy. Leaving-the-house-style activities depend on the health factor, but as far as video games, I can't stop playing Shadow of the Colossus. I am about halfway through all the hard time trials with the goal of getting all the trophies. Basically, I am just manufacturing excuses to stay in that world because who knows the next time we will be able to visit an Ueda creation?
Robbie Key (@RobbieKeyV) – I’m still knee deep in Metal Gear Solid V and trying to figure out how in the world this story ties into the grand scheme of the MGS universe. I’m hoping I’ll complete the story this weekend. After that, I want to start either Valkyria Chronicles II – I’m stoked for the fourth game this year – or Red Dead Redemption because I’ve had such little time with that game and loved Revolver when I was younger. And yes, I know Revolver and Redemption have nothing to do with each other.
Imran Khan (@imranzomg) – This weekend, I am preparing for my vacation next week by cramming in as much Monster Hunter and Dragon Ball FighterZ that I can before my flight. I am genuinely unsure what games will knock these two out of my rotation, but I can’t foresee anything soon.
Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – This weekend is a big one for ongoing games I’ve played for two years. Both Pokémon Go and Overwatch are in the midst of events that add new content, so you can bet I’ll be playing those two games the most this weekend. I’ve also been playing through Final Fantasy X again, which is as amazing as I remember. In between all that, I’m climbing through the many stages of Celeste, which I’m enjoying a decent amount. I’d like to start Iconoclasts and Monster Hunter: World, but, man, too many games.
Joey Thurmond (@DrJoeystein) – The TV I brought up with me to Minnesota has been giving out, which makes sense, given that I replaced a capacitor on the circuit board a year ago (it was bound to break down again). After a lot of thought, it was time to bite the bullet and go for a new one: a 55" TCL P605 with 4K and HDR! It's supposed to be one of the best gaming TVs out there in its price range, so I'm glad I could afford it with some financing, especially so I can experience Shadow of the Colossus with a TV fitting of its visual grandeur. On the side, I'll be hopping into the Overwatch Year of the Dog (fun fact: I was born during that year back in 1994) event to get some of those beautiful new skins (I hope) and continuing my playthrough of God of War.
Leo Vader (@leovader) – I’ll be playing Rainbow Six Siege as much as possible! Got very deep into that game recently and am lucky to have friends who want to play it with me, it really shines with a full squad. Also, Slay the Spire has been my cool-down game after sieging so hopefully I can beat that pesky 3rd act boss one of these days. HAGS!
Jen Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – Saturday morning I’m taking a class to learn how to program arduinos to control LED arrays. Later that night I’m getting gussied up with some friends to go to a fancy dinner party. Sunday is D&D night, where we’ve been steadily creeping through a mega-complex full of liches. Not a whole lot of time for video games this weekend.
