Ark: Survival Evolved Coming To Switch In 2018

After migrating from PC to console and mobile phones, we knew it was likely that Ark: Survival Evolved would continue to spread to other platforms. Today during the "State of Unreal" showcase, developer Studio Wildcard confirmed what many have speculated for some time now – that its dino-packed survival game is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2018.

Taking the stage, art director Jesse Rapczak and lead designer Jeremy Stieglitz showed off both the newly announced Switch version, as well as the mobile phone version.

This past November, Rapcazk spoke to the potential of getting Ark ported to Switch. "I think Switch is a great platform for a game like Ark, because if the game is designed right, you can kind of pull out and do some stuff," Rapczak told GamesIndustry.biz. "It's kind of like some players play it almost like you might play a mobile game – you know, you might want to go do something in the game for a few minutes, like tend to your dinos or your crops or something if you play Ark that way. The mobility of the Switch platform might be appealing to those players, because they can just kinda carry it with them."

Ark: Survival Evolved continues to make its remarkable early access run, with almost 12 million players as of this past November. Expect that number to expand as it proliferates.
