Aspyr Announces Torn, Twilight Zone-Inspired VR Mystery Game

Aspyr, a studio that focuses exclusively on porting games, is branching out to original titles with VR horror-mystery game Torn.

Described as a blend of Twilight Zone and Black Mirror in terms of inspiration, Torn takes players through an up-close adventure of an eccentric recluse scientist's twisted and abandoned mansion.

Aspyr described the story in simple terms. "In 1953, on the brink of a major scientific breakthrough, the renowned physicist Dr. Lawrence Talbot vanished. For 64 years, his mansion remained hidden, his laboratory and work all but forgotten... Until now."

You can check out the trailer for the game below and look for it this spring on PSVR, Oculus, and Vive.

Our Take
Moody, atmospheric VR games are still relatively uncommon and I'm eager to try some that invoke the same kinds of feelings Resident Evil VII did. I look forward to seeing how Aspyr designs their first original effort.
