Bethesda Game Studios Expands With Acquisition Of BattleCry Studio
Bethesda Game Studios announced today that it will be expanding to another location in Austin, Texas. BattleCry Studios will be absorbed under the Bethesda umbrella to become Bethesda Game Studios Austin.
“As the vision, scale and ambitions for our games continue to grow, so does Bethesda Game Studios,” said Todd Howard, game director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios. “We’ve had the pleasure to know the talented developers at BattleCry and knew we could do great things together.”
BattleCry Studio's first game, BattleCry, was halted back in 2015, but the studio went on to help with the development of 2016's Doom.
“We’re excited to join Bethesda Game Studios and look forward to working together on some of the industry’s most exciting new games,” said Doug Mellencamp, studio director at Bethesda Game Studios Austin. “Austin’s incredible game development scene and talent will also allow us to push our games further than fans have imagined."
BattleCry Studios joins Arkane Studios, the developer of 2017's Prey, as the latest Bethesda-owned studio in Austin. There is no news yet on what the Austin studio's first project will be, but Bethesda Studios is currently hiring in Maryland, Montreal, and Austin.

Our Take
Both Bethesda and BattleCry appear to be happy about this new merger, and it's good that Bethesda is trying to expand rather than stretch themselves too thin, especially considering Bethesda's E3 showcase is quickly approaching. Who knows, maybe the extra hands will help bring Fallout to the Nintendo Switch. Ah, dreams.
