SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Coming This Year To Switch
Although many people have come to know SNK as the maker of fighting games like King of Fighters and as the creator of the Metal Slug series, the company has a rich retro and arcade history behind it. With its latest title, which it's releasing with help from NIS America, the company hopes bring that history to light.
Currently only announced for Switch, the SNK 40th Anniversary will bring several arcade games to the modern platform. The early list of announced titles in the collection includes some recognizable names Ikari Warriors, but also includes more obscure cult titles like Crystalis. The full list of currently announced games for the collection follows, with more to follow.
- Alpha Mission
- Athena
- Crystalis
- Ikari Warriors
- Ikari III: The Rescue
- Guerilla War
- P.O.W.
- Prehistoric Isle in 1930
- Psycho Solider
- Street Smart
- TNK III
- Vanguard
- Victory Road
NIS America has also announced a limited collector's edition, which includes a physical copy of the game, a soundtrack, an art book, and a nicer box.

Our Take
I'm not super-familiar with SNK's catalog beyond The King of Fighters series, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and Metal Slug, but this sounds like a great place to start my education. That said, the release of more prominent SNK titles on PS4 and Switch as separate products makes me think they won't be a part of this collection, which would be a shame.
