Street Fighter Board Game Mixes Punching, Kicking, Figures, And Cards

If you're a fan of Street Fighter's characters but would like to strategize instead of fight, Jasco has a neat little board game for you.

The officially-licensed Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game lets players take control of Street Fighter's iconic characters and move them around like chess pieces. But as an adaptation of a fighting game, it's a bit different from other board games, with a more active combat system that lets players mix and match characters across up to six players, take on bosses in a cooperative mode, destroy the terrain around them, and utilize combos to maximize damage.

Each character comes with their individual combat deck, and players use cards to battle it out on the field. During their turn, can choose to move, draw a card, or play a card, and must determine whether they should attack or defend on a given turn. The Kickstarter campaign for the game has already surpassed its $400,000 goal. The core set includes the versus mode and six characters for an $80 pledge, while $140 gets you the boss mode expansion, as well as access to stretch goals like additional characters and modes, several of which have been met. The project has an estimated March 2019 release date.
