The overlooked Torment: Tides of Numenera is free on Steam this weekend
The relentlessly imaginative role-playing game Torment: Tides of Numenera can be played for free this weekend on Steam, and it's heavily discounted from £35 to £14 should you wish to buy it.
It's worth a look; Rich Cobbett recommended Torment: Tides of Numenera in his Eurogamer review, and it's had fixes, improvements and a content update since then.
Torment: Tides of Numenera is a thematic successor to revered old RPG Planescape: Torment. It recreates the same deep philosophical outlook in an equally weird and wonderful world. It asks 'What does one life matter?' and attempts to answer it over the course of a story about an immortal god jumping from body to body - one of which your consciousness wakes up in. It's a fascinating game, and I talked in spoilery depth to the makers about the meanings of Torment: Tides of Numenera should you wish to read more.
