CD Projekt says Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer likely won't arrive until after 2021

Following the news that its hugely anticipated open-world sci-fi adventure Cyberpunk 2077 will see a five month delay, CD Projekt has confirmed that the game's previously announced multiplayer - which it's now describing as the "the triple-A release we're working on in parallel with Cyberpunk 2077" - likely now won't arrive until after 2021.

A multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077 was first mooted all the way back in 2013, but it wasn't until last year that CD Projekt made it official. Even so, the developer remained coy about multiplayer's final form, only saying that it wouldn't arrive for Cyberpunk 2077's launch, and that the studio's initial focus would be on delivering free DLC and more single-player content.

Now, however, speaking in an investor Q&A earlier today (as spotted by Polygon), CD Projekt's vice president of business development Michał Nowakowski has given the clearest indication yet of the company's current plans and development timeline.
